Classes at Satchidananda Mission

We have really missed you all! Who could have imagined, that as things seemed to be turning around so that we could come back together for practice, the CDC guidelines discourage holding in person classes again? We have continued to maintain the intention of Satchidananda Mission with regular yoga practice, meditation, scripture studies and retreats. Rich and I both have taken this past year-and-a-half to deepen our own practices and to enrich the space here at Satchidananda Mission. It has been a time of deep reflection as I am sure it has been the same for many of you. Over the past few weeks we have felt safe to offer, by appointment, the following for those that have been fully vaccinated for Covid-19. For more information about these offerings please contact Manjula at satchidanandamission@gmail.com or Rich at richpanico@gmail.com.

Therapeutic Yoga is our most accessible class. It is designed for those who would like to gently move their bodies and learn mindful stress reduction techniques. If you have limited mobility, would like to increase and preserve joint health, regain core strength, or if you haven't moved for a while, this is the class for you. Join us Tuesday from 10am-noon ~ register here

Gentle Yoga classes are designed for bodies that want to be gently guided through a full set of asanas, breathing practices and relaxation in an appropriate, intelligent way. We suggest if you have taken a break from your Hatha Yoga practice or if you are recovering from injury or illness or if you simply want to enjoy a more gentle approach, try one of these classes. Join us Wednesday from 10am-11:30am ~ register here

Level I/II classes are warm, welcoming and suitable for all ages and all types of bodies. This class is adaptable to several levels of practice once you have a foundation to build on, and students practice according to their level of development while staying with the flow of the class. Variations are taught for all conditions of mind and body. We include Sun Salutations, a set of twelve basic postures, progressive relaxation, expanded breathing practice and meditation. We continue to build techniques by adding variations, longer holds, and more variety of postures. Join us Saturday from 10am-noon ~ register here

Level II/III classes use less instruction, and include vinyasa (one posture flowing into the next) with longer holds, more postures, as well as more complex asanas. More emphasis is placed on breath and the more subtle practices of bandha (locks), mudra (seals), kriya (cleansing techniques), and retention in pranayama. It is a deeply meditative practice for the seasoned practitioner. Join us Thursday from 6pm-8pm ~ register here

Kirtan is the practice of chanting sacred names. Kirtan is one of the paths of Yoga called Nada Yoga. The word Nada means union through sound. It is a yoga practice that celebrates divine energy. Everyone is welcome. Come as you are. No experience is necessary. We provide chant sheets so you can easily follow along. The practice is done call and respond with a kirtan group supporting the response. It's easy, fun and uplifting. Chanting brings us fully into the present moment, into the body, into the heart, and home to ourselves! Join us the third Sunday of each month from 4-5:30. Learn more here or contact us for more information.
